The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
