Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
