The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
