The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
