Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
