He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
