Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Woe to the liars 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 So by oath of the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this Qur’an is the Truth, in the same language that you speak. 23
