The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 "Tell him 'Do you have the inclination to become pure?' 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
