The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they differ? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
