Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
