The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
