The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a mighty Day. 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 a written record, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
