He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 For him who does not care, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
