The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 on a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
