The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. 15 Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
