The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 It will be a place of return 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
