A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad 1 A DIVINE WRIT has been bestowed from on high upon thee - and let there be no doubt about this in thy heart - in order that thou mayest warn [the erring] thereby, and [thus] admonish the believers: 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 And how many a town that We destroyed, so Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 Then shall We question those to whom Our message was sent and those through whom We sent it 6 Then We shall narrate to them with knowledge the whole account. For surely, We were not away from them. 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 We settled you on the earth, and provided means of livelihood for you in it; but little are the thanks you give. 10
