So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
