۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people: What are these images to whose worship you cleave? 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said: "Certainly you and your fathers have all been in manifest error." 54 They exclaimed, "Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?" 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 He broke them all into pieces, except for the biggest one of them, so that they might return to it [for enquiry]. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They exclaimed: "Burn him, and [thereby] succour your gods, if you are going to do [anything]!" 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve; 73 And (as for) Lut, We gave him wisdom and knowledge, and We delivered him from the town which wrought abominations; surely they were an evil people, transgressors; 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
