۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 He broke all the idols into pieces, except the biggest among them so that perhaps people would refer to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They desired to outwit him; so We made them the worse losers, 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 We encompassed him in Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
