The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
