And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
