And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
