If affliction befalls you, it is what your own hands have earned, but He pardons a lot. 30 And you will not cause failure [to Allah] upon the earth. And you have not besides Allah any protector or helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships in the sea like mountains. 32 Had He wanted, He could have stopped the wind and let the ships remain motionless on the surface of the sea, in this there is evidence (of the Truth) for all those who are patient and grateful, 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 So whatever thing you are given, that is only a provision of this world's life, and what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe and rely on their Lord. 36 And (for) those who avoid cardinal sins and indecencies, and forgive (even) when they are angry. 37 And those who obeyed the command of their Lord and kept the prayer established; and whose affairs are with mutual consultation; and who spend in Our cause from what We have bestowed upon them. 38 And those who, when they are oppressed vindicate themselves. 39 The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 Blame lies on those who oppress, and terrorise the land unjustly. For them there is painful punishment. 42 whoever is patient and forgiving, acts with great courage and resolution. 43
