And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 And you cannot escape in the earth, and you shall not have a guardian or a helper besides Allah. 31 And among His signs are the ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas: 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 He may, while forgiving much of the sins of those that ride these ships, drown them on account of some of their misdeeds. 34 And [that is so] those who dispute concerning Our signs may know that for them there is no place of escape. 35 So whatever you have been given is but a passing enjoyment for this worldly life, but that which is with Allah (Paradise) is better and more lasting for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and put their trust in their Lord (concerning all of their affairs). 36 (This reward will be for) those who keep away from major sins and indecency, who forgive when they are made angry, 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 and who, whenever tyranny afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 But he who patiently endures and forgives, that is a conduct of great resolve. 43
