The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warning. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 And indeed, the everlasting punishment overcame them early in the morning. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
