The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Compassionate. 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He has created man: 3 and He taught him speech. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 that you may not transgress in the balance, 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters, 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which favors of your Lord will you both (humans and jinn) belie? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 25
