The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 Therefore, maintain just measure and do not transgress against the Balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 The Lord of the Two Easts, the Lord of the Two Wests. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
