The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your clothing purify 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
