Nay! By the moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the criminals, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
