The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
