The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And dense gardens. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
