The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
