The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
