The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the breath of morning 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
