The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
