The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
