The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
