The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
