The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
