The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
