He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him thou attendest 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
