Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
