The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
