The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
