The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil). 2 Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, 3 those who believe in the revelation sent down to you and in what was sent before you, and firmly believe in the life to come -- 4 These are guided by their Lord; these surely are the prosperous. 5 Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. 6 Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment. 7
