Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 We have laid out gardens of dates and grapes upon it, and made springs of water flow, 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 All glory belongs to the One Who has created pairs out of what grow from the earth, out of their soul and out of that which they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip the day out of it, thereupon they are in darkness. 37 And [they have a sign in] the sun: it runs in an orbit of its own [and] that is laid down by the will of the Almighty, the All-Knowing; 38 And for the moon We have appointed mansions till she return like an old shrivelled palm-leaf. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto whereon they ride. 42 If it were Our will, We could drown them: then there would be no helper [to hear their cry], nor could they be saved. 43 But (by) mercy from Us and for enjoyment till a time. 44 But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy... " 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 They say: “When will this threat (of Resurrection) come to pass? Tell us if indeed you are truthful.” 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 Therefore neither able to make a will, nor returning to their homes. 50
