۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Are we not then to die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
