۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Lo! thus deal We with the guilty. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
