Therefore continue to remind, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer, or a madman. 29 Or they allege, “He is a poet – we await a calamity of the times to befall him.” 30 Say: Wait, for surely I too with you am of those who wait. 31 Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds? 32 Or say they: He hath invented it? Nay, but they will not believe! 33 Then let them bring an announcement like it if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down? 41 Or are they contriving a stratagem against you? If so, that stratagem will rebound against the unbelievers. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
